Your Gourmet Cooks

The Proud Cooks
Alta Latham (Left) and JoAnn Doty (Right)

Alta Latham has been cooking at the center since May 1998 and JoAnn Doty has been helping her for the past 2 years. Alta began cooking for restaurants at the Log Cabin in Choteau in the early 1950's, took a break to have her kids, cooked at the Sportsman's in the late 1960's and early 1970's, the Angus and the Missouri Inn in the late 1970's, and then started with Buttrey Foods at Mom's Cafe at the Holiday Village store in 1979. She retired from Buttrey's in 1995. Alta is renowned for her great home cooked meals and is particularly famous for her soups. In fact Buttrey management tried for several years to get her recipes, but they remain a family secret. Virtually every meal, with rare exception, includes one of Alta's famous, delicious soups. Stop by for a nutritious home style meal that will give your taste buds a pleasant work out and will surely fill you up. The meals program is supported by the Cascade County Elderly Nutrition Program.
