Pinochle Friday

A Friendly Game of Pinochle

Every Friday afternoon the card bunch shows up at 1:30 p.m. for the weekly pinochle game. Players rotate throughout the afternoon and the high point winners are recognized each week in the Cascade Courier.

Great Falls Bus

Cascade County Aging Services provides a bus for transportation of Cascade seniors to and from Great Falls on the 2nd. and 4th. Thursdays of each month. The bus departs at 8:45 a.m. and returns at 3:30 p.m. The bus will visit most all places requested by passengers. The bus is wheel chair accessible and any other special needs will be accomodated by special request. Contact Janell Brown at the center at least a day ahead.

The bus is also available to the center for transportation to special activities. Past uses, which must be scheduled in advance, have included trips to Great Falls to view the Christmas tree lights, trip to regional area Senior of the Year dinner, trips to out of town museums and special attractions, and a variety of other field trips. We very much appreciate this wonderful service.

Pool Table

Shooting Pool at the Center

The pool table at the center is enjoyed by the younger folks as well as the young at heart. The table is open to all during the center's hours of operation and the younger folks are encouraged to make use of this facility. A good supply of quality cues is available for use. Stop by and hone your skills. There's always room for a few more players.

Exercise Area

Putting Miles on the Treadmill

The midmorning group seems to be the core of the center's exercise program, but the equipment is available for use anytime the center is open. The equipment has been donated over the years and is of good quality. The selection of machines include treadmills, bicycles, stair steppers, rowing machines, cross-country skiing machines, and few other smaller devices, as well as a small variety of hand weights. Drop down and tone up those abs and build up that lung capacity. You'll be surprised at the number of friends you'll meet.

If you have any equipment in good condition that you wish to donate please contact the center.

Building Rental

The Senior Center is available for special occasions for a small donation. The city park is located conveniently across the street and the center has been used for many family reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, receptions, and meetings. Neither smoking nor alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Blood Pressure/Oxygen Levels

On the third Tuesday of each month a volunteer nurse offers free Blood Pressure and Oxygen Level testing at the center. This program is open to anyone regardless of membership or age who wishes to have their levels checked. This is a free service.

Daily Coffee Klatch

Gathering for Coffee

The membership of the daily coffee klatch is undefined and constantly changing. Basically it consists of everyone and anyone who stops by for a cup at whatever time of the day. A core group seems to gather around 10 a.m. during and following some activity in the exercise room. But basically its just a "whenever" time to enjoy a good cup of coffee, visits with friends, and discuss, sometimes contentiously, past and current events. You can count on a good cup of coffee, good conversation, and a hearty welcome to the table.

Annual Shot Clinics

The Great Falls/Cascade County Health Department comes out to the center each fall, usually in October, to offer their annual shot clinic. Generally close to 100 people take part in this clinic for flu and pnemonia shots, and the clinic is usually finished in less than two hours. Medicare covers the cost, or if you are not on Medicare, the shots are available for a small fee. Check this page for the exact date when fall comes around.
